Hedge fund assets decline in January - eVestment

January was a hard month for both hedge funds and markets in general. Hedge funds generally outperformed the index, but they felt the pain in assets. Overall, hedge fund assets declined in January to $2.845tn. Slightly positive investor flows were offset by performance losses as assets declined $7.9bn.

Investors favored equity exposure over credit for the fourth consecutive months and flows between the two deviated by the widest margin since pre-financial crisis in Q2 2007. Investors added $13.8bn into equities in January, the largest allocation for the group since August 2009. Report data shows that this may well be the e......................
