Women are gaining in the alternatives space according to a new report Women in Alternative Investments - Industry Outlook and Trends released last week by Rothstein Kass, a U.S.-based professional services firm, in partnership with 85 Broads, a global women's network. Opalesque spoke with Kelly Easterling, Principal at Rothstein Kass about the report and what it means for the alternative investments industry going forward.
According to Easterling, the report came out of the realization that women and their roles in the industry weren't really being studied. "We've done a number of reports through the years, and after examining the historical data, we noticed that despite having done a lot of surveys we never really got the women's perspective on the industry. So we thought it would be interesting to learn what the differences might be."
Indeed, the report zeros in on women fund managers and their insights on the industry. The sample includes respondents from hedge funds, private equity, venture capital and fund of funds.
